Avoiding bad habits for athletic performance
Whats up hardcores! Recently I posted a comment on undergroundstrengthcoach.com that had my mind thinking
about what I used to do wrong back in the day. Were talking about the things I did that actually hurt me in the weight
room. I know that a lot of bad ass athletes out there still train like this too. Anyway just wanted to list a few things that
I whished I never did as an athlete in hopes that you guys don’t make the same mistakes… Check it
1. Always trained the anterior (front) side of my body.
2. Ate a small breakfast in the morning and dinner at night no lunch. Crazy!
3. Always trained for a gun show. (biceps, triceps)
4. Hardly ever warmed up
5. Never cooled down after workout.
6.Always used machines for my training
7. I thought to get a big chest was to work the chest over and over.
8. Thought more was better.
I could go on and on. The point is we are always learning new things. Those who fail to learn new things should not be
in this business. There is no one way to training. Everyone needs to understand that your body has to be balanced for
it to work effectively in sport or life in general. Much of what I did wrong was in the early years of lifting and boy did I
pay for it down the road. I ended up with a torn acl and aches and pains throughout my body. The main reason why is
because of poor conditioning and not listening to my body. I was not balanced and suffered. Here is the good part
about that though. In time I begun to wonder why I was not getting stronger or bigger. I begun to research and soon a
passion for getting stronger was built. I loved to figure out why our bodies worked the way they did. I wanted to know
more and become better. I still learn today. Anyone who says, “oh yea, I do it this way” or is one sided about training
is dead damn wrong. If I would have trained the same way day in and day out my days of being a strength coach would
have ended. I know there are a lot of athletes out there that do the same routines day after day. Try to avoid this type
of mentality and find out what serious strength gains are all about. Just think if I could get you on a bad ass
BEAST program to jack you up and dominate your sport.. Hell yea!!! Man that gets me rockin just thinking about it…
Come check out the forged athlete and be months ahead of your competition. Let me know guys! The days are going by and times a wastin….
