Omaha Strength Coach- The Forged Athlete- Do it or don't

Ok-

Just want to speak on a few things before I head off to the gym for another day of training.

Lately I have run into people who think that strength comes overnight.

I laugh at these weak minded individuals.

Why in this world does everyone think that there’s a quick fix for everything?

Is it because technology has transformed most people into couch potatoes!

The truth is that there is no easy way out when it comes to training.

This seems to be the only thing left in the world that takes true gut busting hard work.

You either do it or don’t and let everyone else that works hard reap the reward.

If you want success in getting in shape then you better become motivated and stop being lazy.

I’ll say it like this GET OFF YOUR ASS AND MOVE!

I hope this post will motivate you to do something about your current levels of strength and fitness.

We can always improve on something even if were in good shape.

It’s important and should be incorporated into your life. It’s the only fountain of youth there is.

Stay forged strong!

Omaha Strength Coach-The Forged Athlete-Decision

Check this out!

Our gym just added three new members to the crew.

These young men made the decision to change not only their athleticism, but their lives.

The question is what will happen to the opponent when they arrive for another football season with new attitudes. Their confidence will have sky rocketed in just months of time. Their dominance will be felt!

Now ask yourself if you want to be on the receiving end of someone who can run through you in a moment’s notice.

It’s going to be very interesting to see the kids who decided that their training should be taken lightly compared to those who train like animals and warriors.

I’m telling you, I would not want to be an athlete going against one of these dudes.

Omaha Strength Coach- The Forged Athlete- Hard Work!

Guys-

Awesome day in the gym today! We have a lot of hard work going on.

This is exactly what we like to see when it comes to training. You either step it up or get crushed.

We guarantee that the people who put in the time and work will be rewarded in the end.

You know who you are and so do we. The iron has no enemies and no friends.

It takes guts and extreme determination to train in our gym. The people inside no this all to well.

They understand how to work hard and what it takes to practice excellence.

They also understand that in order to have success with the iron takes repetition and mental toughness.

Everybody has days where it’s an uphill battle. If you succeed during the tough times just think what the good times will bring.

Hard work and dedication will bring you happiness and appreciation in your life. If it’s handed to you the meaning is lost.

Rest assure that the results in our gym are earned day in and day out.

The journey through strength is an eye opener for most, but addicting to say the least.

Check out the vid of some of our dudes taking it to the next level.

Omaha Strength Coach – Pull and Push Heavy Weight For STRENGTH

Hey!

Hope you’re doing well!

You know if there two things I know about training to get strong its this:

1) Pull Heavy Weight

2) Push Heavy Weight

Do those two things and I’ll bet you get strong!

Of course focus on good technique and proper programming and it will all come together quite nicely for you.

Two movements that will really work your whole body and give you some nice strength gains are:

1) The Weighted Pull Up

2) Single Arm DB Press

If you’re not using your whole body in these movements, you’re doing em wrong!

First of all, lets talk about the weighted pull up.  This is obviously for the back but you really work ALOT of muscles.

I like to hold the weight between my feet or legs instead of using a weighted belt.  Wearing a weighted belt is CHEATING.

It doesn’t force you to lock in your abs.

You want a SICK ab workout – Do weighted pull ups with a weight between your feet.  From the moment you put that weight between your feet, lock in your abs and keep tension on your core.  Don’t let you feet just hang, try to keep them stiff and in front of your body.

Keep them locked out like this for the whole set and you get a nice little static weighted hold for your abs.  KILLER!

As a added bonus you add tons of muscle and strength to your back side.

Now lets talk about the heavy 1 Arm DB Press.

Probably one of my favorite exercises out there.  LOVE IT.

Pressing anything that heavy over your head with get you strong.  When you do this, you force your whole core to engage to stabilize the weight.  Not to mention, you’re pressing on one side so everything else on the other side of your body has to work to balance everything out.

Then, of course there are those bozo’s that press and their back’s are super arched all out of whack.  It’s painful to watch.  I hope you’re not that guy or gal…

What you need to make sure of when you’re pressing heavy weights over head is to lock in everything from head to toe.

Start by gripping the ground with your feet, lock up your ass, and squeeze your core.  Everything should be tight as heck!

From there get that weight locked out over your head any way you can.  Keep your arm tight to your body.  Don’t ever let anything be loose.

Do this and tell me your only working your shoulders.

Work with these exercises and you’ll see gains!

Here’s a quick vid of some heavy pressing and pulling!

Enjoy!

The Forged Athlete -Omaha strength coach- Combat training

Hello to all the military mindset people!

In the following video you will see a series of exercises that are grouped together to make you a bad ass. They will challenge you and test your toughness. They’re exercises for developing lasting strength.

This type of training can become extremely intense depending how you regress and progress the movement. This workout was a deload day for me. I tried to keep the intensity low, but I felt good so I pushed it.

Normaly you would want to hold off a bit and rest the body. The exercies are a lot of carries and a prowler finisher. It doesn’t take much to get the heart pumping and the muscles full of blood.

We use what we think works for us and our guys and throw away the rest. It’s either do or die! Are you going to lay down and let everyone walk over you or are you going to stand up and fight your way through what you want in life?

These are questions I ask myslef every day and I suggest you do the same. It will keep you focused and on track. Enjoy the vid and keep strong!

Omaha Strength Coach – Why Train like this?

What’s going on everyone!

Today I’m going to be giving you some of my opinions on why our style of training is beneficial in getting very strong in short periods of time.

In the video you will see me hammering away at a few exercises that have allowed me to get very strong and powerful. It’s amazing to see how these exercises can increase your strength in no time at all. The first lift was a set of sandbag squats.

Most people underestimate this kind of lifting because it’s not traditional. I’m here to tell you it works! I have no idea how much weight I had, but it was heavy as hell. In the later vid I hit some power lunges and recline rowing.

I love the odd object lifting, as it causes you to recruit muscles you didn’t know you had. I finished with some prowler work and was destroyed to say the least. Check the vid and let me know your thoughts.

I’ll see ya on the next round!

Omaha Strength Coach – The Forged Athlete Gym – Physical Culture Training

What up people!

Lets talk some real world strength and power for a min here!

I’m talking about physical culture training.

Gymnastics style – rings, jumps, skips, rope climbs, hand walking – basically anything you can do to use your own bodyweight as resistance.

It’s an anchient art and too many athletes and regular people take it way for granted!

Physical culture training should always make up the baseline of your basic to advanced programs.

If you can’t master some of the most basic bodyweight exercises, you need to work on them before you start working with heavier weighted lifts with dumbbells, barbells, sandbags, and kettlebells.

I’ve met too many kids and trainees, athletes in particular, that have terrible relative bodyweight strength who are performing weighted lifts.

1st of all, thier form is usually terrible and 2nd, they are ALWAYS trying to go way too heavy.

This is a good combination and perfect recipe to get yourself hurt real quick.

Many poeple have no idea and they keep training this way.  Just so you know, if you perform lifts at lighter intensities with better form and technique – they will crush heavier intensities with shitty technique any day!

It’s all about RISK vs REWARD!!!

It’s not all about how much you can lift!

I was on my off week last week so I messed around at a gymnastics center where I do morning bootcamps for general fitness folk at.

These people, while their not athletes – KICK MAJOR ASS!!

Their moms, dads, and people trying to fit fitness into their busy schedules.

They train hard and I love it!

I incorporate different variations of physical culture like training into their routines.  Good stuff!

The workout I did on this particular morning was brutal!

Handstand push ups, rope climbs, high box jumps, multiple types of skips, jumps, and hops, ring pull ups, ring dips, and various types of animal crawls and pistol squats (I need work on pistols!!!)

The box jumps where good!  Try jumping off of a soft surface sometime.  It cranks up the intensity a ton!

This workout isn’t even scratching the surface of what can be performed at this gymnastics center or anywhere for that matter!

Go out and get some (physical culture training)!!!

Omaha Strength Coach – Wrestler Super Set For Strength

What up!?

Well the wrestling season is getting very close to coming to an end.

The cream of the crop are rising to the top.

Those who are mentally tough, in the best conditioning, and have put in the time are settling in above the rest!

I love this time of year!

I threw in a cool superset of two moves, I feel are great to improve a wrestler’s or any athlete’s strength.

One of the moves, which is handwalking, I feel every wrestler, even heavyweights should be able to master.  It takes lots of shoulder stability and core strength.  You need to have great balance and body awareness as well.

The other move is a good old, Zercher Sandbag walking lunge.  This is a classic and every athlete , no matter what your sport, should be including into their strength training regimen.  This works the core and upper back a good deal and also kills the legs.

This superset is great to hit at the end of a full body session when your tired.

You’ll notice in the video that I start to fail quite a bit with the handwalking towards the end.  This is where that mental toughness comes into play.

Push through the failure and stay focused!  Remember, when you train – It’s War!

Only you know who truly wins in the end.

Keep pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone and you’re results will blow through the roof!
