<p>Another day and another high quality workout checked off.</p>
<p>Going through the progressions as necessary and not falling to mediocrity is what it’s all about.</p>
<p>Dudes were a little crazy in the gym today! I have no issues with that so I let them.</p>
<p>I see too many people taking the easy way out in training and life.</p>
<p><strong>If you kick ass during practice then you should expect to get kick ass during game time.</strong></p>
<p>This can be both in sport and in life. I talk a lot about focus, mindset and hard work.</p>
<p>For me I have a belief that if done properly you can change your life in unimaginable ways.</p>
<p>You combine the right thinking with a deadly training program a serious tough minded individual is born.</p>

<p>You know strength is built in many different ways.</p>
<p>We feel at the Forged Athlete Gym here in Omaha NE that &#8220;real&#8221; strength is built upon so much more than just plain old hard work and dedication.</p>
<p>Now, the type of strength I&#8217;m talking about is that &#8220;real world, toughened, warrior mentality&#8221; type.  When you got this attitude and mindset combined with highly built physical body strength, you&#8217;re an unstoppable force.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s people out there I know that can lift a house, but they are mentally WEAK.</p>
<p>I believe it&#8217;s due to their training environment.  Soft, intimidation free, commercial like gyms.  They do nothing to train you mentally.</p>
<p>These gym&#8217;s have all the nice shiny equipment, nice clean floors, country club like locker rooms and bathrooms, complete with towel service.  You name it they got it!</p>
<p>I feel being in an environment such as that will take way from your growth &#8211; both mentality and physically.</p>
<p>You need to put yourself in an atmosphere that will force you to &#8220;<em>get comfortable with being uncomfortable</em>&#8220;.</p>
<p>Some times, hard work and dedication just aren&#8217;t enough to build that &#8220;real world toughness&#8221; strength.</p>
<p>Along with hard work and dedication, you&#8217;ll need shear grit and hard nosed effort.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s where &#8220;real&#8221; strength and toughness is made.</p>
<p>Getting out of your comfort zone.</p>
<p>Pushing the envelope.</p>
<p>Going against the grain.</p>
<p><strong>BREAKING THE RULES!</strong></p>
<p>Some of the ways we really help ourselves and our members get this &#8220;real world:, toughened, strength is through doing it &#8220;homemade&#8221;.</p>
<p>We make our own rules at The Forged Athlete so along with that, we make our own strength tools as well!</p>
<p>We&#8217;ve made:</p>
<p>Our own prowler,  fat barbell, fat dumbells, sleds, squat rack, plyo boxes, pull up bars, dip bars, sandbags, and coming soon, our own atlas stones.</p>
<p>All of these tools will get you strong as heck!  They&#8217;ll help build athleticism and improve your physique.</p>
<p>Most of all, I feel that using these &#8220;homemade&#8221; strength tools, will get you tough!</p>
<p>I love working with these tools!</p>
<p>One of my favorites besides the <a href="http://www.theforgedathlete.com/omaha-ne-gym-the-forged-athlete-homemade-prowler">prowler</a>, my favorite homemade strength tools is our new fat bar dumbells.</p>
<p>These babies are sick!  You can load them up with up to 120lbs!  Besides making them heavy as heck, the thick handles made it extremely hard to graspe, which will help improve your grip strength a ton!</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve got to thank my boy, The Beast, <a href="http://www.thestrengthshopvb.com/Site/Blog/Blog.html">Matty W</a>, from out of Va. Beach for thinking up this idea.</p>
<p>He&#8217;s the strongest mo&#8217; fo&#8217; I know!  He gets it done!</p>
<p>I did a quick workout with them the other day.</p>
<p>I hit some heavy 1 arm clean and press followed by some heavy 1 arm rows.</p>
<p>Then I hit some prowler for about 15 mins non stop.  Great workout that tested me big time!</p>

<p>I wanna talk about FATIGUE a little bit.</p>
<p>First of all, let me ask you these questions, answer them truthfully:</p>
<p><em>While you where training, </em><em>have you ever got to the point to where you couldn&#8217;t go 1 more second?</em></p>
<p><em>During your training, have you been to the absolute edge to where you thought you may just die?</em></p>
<p><em>During competition, have you ever wanted to rest so bad you would almost just rather quit?</em></p>
<p><em>Have you been to the point to where you knew, in your heart that you could have gave it 1 more rep, went a few more steps, gone a few more seconds, but you didn&#8217;t?</em></p>
<p>Honestly answer these questions, then determine what it was that persuaded your answer.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s called FATIGUE.</p>
<p>If you train hard, play hard, and go hard you know what I&#8217;m talking about.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s when your muscles burn, your heart pounds, and your lungs  can&#8217;t seem to suck in enough air for you to breathe.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s the thing that causes you to second guess why it is your training as hard as you are.</p>
<p>It&#8217;ll take those who &#8220;talk the talk&#8221; and put them into their place.</p>
<p>It&#8217;ll take the strong and brave and turn them into a weak and scared.</p>
<p><strong>Fatigue will make cowards of us all.</strong></p>
<p>That&#8217;s how the old saying goes&#8230;</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve heard it before as I&#8217;m sure you have too.</p>
<p>BUT &#8211; How will you react to this yourself??</p>
<p><strong>Only the true warriors will look fatigue in the face and say &#8220;F**K YOU!&#8221;</strong></p>
<p>This makes a champion!</p>
<p>To the few people out there, who have the GUTS, COURAGE, and FORTITUDE, YOU will PREVAIL!</p>
<p>Something very important happens to a person when they face their fear caused by their fatigue.</p>
<p>I say when you push yourself so far beyond your limits that you change in many ways.</p>
<p>Changing your mental strength is one of the ways we change.</p>
<p>Changing your mental strength will ultimately change YOU as a whole.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s that point of a workout where you know you have one more round, one more rep, or just a few more secs&#8230;</p>
<p>What do you do?</p>
<p>Will you quit?</p>
<p>You can be the only judge and the only one that truly knows if you gave it 110% in the face of fatigue.</p>
<p>IT&#8217;S A BATTLE!</p>
<p>Stand up, take control!</p>
<p>Will fatigue make you a coward?</p>

<p>You have the choice to succeed or fail.</p>
<p>Which will it be??</p>
<p>I hit my heavy deadlift day just today and you know what, I didn&#8217;t do quite what I wanted to do.</p>
<p>I attempted a weight that I have gotten in the past but I didn&#8217;t hit it today.</p>
<p>Did I fail?  NO &#8211; I haven&#8217;t decided to fail yet!  I just found a way how to NOT lift that particular weight today.</p>
<p>I will lift that weight, just in good time.</p>
<p>Our failures can teach us alot.</p>
<p>They can teach us what we may have been doing wrong.</p>
<p>They can tell us what we need to change.</p>
<p>In the end, it&#8217;s up to us to make sure to make the changes and do the things to be right.</p>
<p>If you decide to quit, then you have FAILED!</p>
<p>Make the choice to succeed!</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the workout I cranked today.  It was a real ass kicker and it taught me alot of where I am now and what I need to do to get where I wanna be.</p>

<p>Joe and myself are super thrilled about all the new members we have that have been putting their minds and physical selves to the test.</p>
<p>This is why I love coming to my “office”.</p>
<p>As a strength coach and mentor – this is MY LIFE!</p>
<p>I live and die for this stuff!</p>
<p>I wouldn’t trade this for ANYTHING!</p>
<p>My gym is my office.  My office is where I do business!</p>
<p>Just yesterday we had a crazy workout with a few new members.  They crushed it!</p>
<p>They gave everything they had!  That’s what we want at The Forged Athlete here in Omaha!</p>
<p>Nothing less than your best efforts!</p>
<p>There are big things to come to The Forged Athlete.</p>
<p>Trust me when I say – Dudes will be walking in the front door and walking out the back STRONG and JACKED to the max!</p>
<p>Our “office” is a strength factory!  I pride myself and so does Joe on getting each and every one of our dedicated members RESULTS!</p>
<p>Since we are so dedicated to making sure our members are taking care of, we do not open the door just for anyone.</p>
<p><strong>You have to earn your way! </strong><br />
<strong>Those that are members already know that they must bring their &#8220;A&#8221; game to every session.</strong></p>
<p>We DO NOT take days off!</p>
<p>When they come into work &#8211; they pack a lunch because we get busy!<strong> </strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s all about hard work and dedication.  The results just flow when that&#8217;s what your main focuses are.<br />

<p>Today the crew became nicknamed the hit squad.</p>
<p>This group is serious and will let nothing stand in their way when it comes to improving their strength.</p>
<p>Even though we train as a team often times it becomes personal. It’s war with one’s mind and body.</p>
<p>Consistently breaking records and adding muscle is what we like to do. It’s hard not to join in on the fun!</p>
<p>In a few short days there will be additions to the squad. The new members were able to successfully pass</p>
<p>our intro workout and interview. We are very serious with what we do in this gym!</p>
<p> These guys will make huge improvements with themselves over the duration of the program.</p>
<p>It takes dedication, hard work and a mindset of becoming excellent.</p>
<p>That’s what we preach and live by everyday of our lives. <strong>There is no other way!</strong></p>
<p>In the vid below is a series of exercises that are currently being worked upon over and over until we get it</p>
<p>perfect with these guys.</p>
<p>There is no room for mediocrity in here. We only want winners and people who want to succeed.</p>

<p>A grind to get better.</p>
<p>Maybe just by a inch or sometimes a whole mile.  You take steps forward.</p>
<p>The best way I know to be absolutely positive you&#8217;re taking steps in the right direction is by <strong>breaking records.</strong></p>
<p>When I say records, I mean you&#8217;re own personal records.<br />
Who cares what Johnny down the street is doing.  <strong>You worry about YOU.</strong></p>
<p>As long as you&#8217;re adding weight to the bar, jumping higher, running faster, or getting quicker, that&#8217;s all that matters.</p>
<p><strong>What type of progress are YOU making.</strong></p>
<p>Break personal records.</p>
<p>To break personal records you need to creates records.</p>
<p>Challenge yourself &#8211; write stuff down &#8211; weights uses, times, inches, anything that can be measured and tested.</p>
<p>Write these things down then BEAT all of your recorded numbers.</p>
<p>Keep breaking records and you&#8217;ll be a winner.</p>
<p>Now get after it!</p>

<p>I have such a passion for the iron that it doesn&#8217;t take much to get me going.  Even if I&#8217;m alone&#8230;</p>
